SWTOR Beta Ends Here’s Some Tips
Posted on Monday, December 5th, 2011 and filed under Game News, RMT News, SWG, SWTOR.Howdy folks, how’s it goin’? So as a complete surprise to me, my wife received an invitation to 1 more weekend beta test for SWTOR, I looked in my email and I hadn’t received anything yet. About 30 mins later I did. w00t!! We logged in and ran as Smugglers this time. We were in the previous 2 weekend tests too. We never ran as the same class before, it’s pretty fun, it makes it easier for some of the harder boss’s. Not that we got very many levels, only lvl 12 this time. We learned a few things though.
First off, ALWAYS TAKE ANY MISSION YOU CAN, you get a lot of XP and most of the starter quests are quick and easy. Don’t pass them up. You’ll be glad you did later on down the road…
Second, make sure you find the bind points so that you travel back anywhere you have bound. They were usually in cantinas and by the taxis. I can’t remember the name of the special to do it but the cooldown is 30min. That worked out well for us.
Third, make sure you click on the taxi droid to have the point stored. Using the taxis is the fastest way to travel at first and a necessity, so you need to learn it right away. They will show you where you can go from their point and the connecting routes for all of the other taxi droid points you have stored.
SWTOR is going to be fun but I’m gonna miss SWG, SWTOR is not a replacement. SWTOR looks good and I hope it does well. I haven’t got into the crafting side of it much and I’m interested to see some end game stuff too. I did try the warzone feature. It queued me up into a group of 8v8 with toon levels from 11 to 50, I was the 11 LOL. I did get a kill and I died few times too. It was fun. The warzone I was in was like a capture and hold map where there were 3 huge turrets shooting at ship in space. The object was to hold those turret points. Pretty fun stuff!!
Well I’m outta here for now, here’s a screenie of the final minutes in the last beta weekend, Dance party in Coruscant!!
See ya later,
Mark

SWG Closing December 15th 2011
Posted on Sunday, August 14th, 2011 and filed under Fun Stuff, Game News, MMORPG Issues, RMT News, SWG.SO SWG IS CLOSING!! I hate to say it and its really sad. I went to bed one night and woke up to the forums being offline, normal for SOE sometimes. After the forums came back up this is what I found. on 06/24/2011 12:46:08 this was posted on the official SWG forums.
Dear Star Wars Galaxies™ Community Member,
We write to you today to inform you that on December 15, 2011, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and LucasArts will end all services (MMO and Trading Card Game) for Star Wars Galaxies (SWG). The shutdown of SWG is a very difficult decision, but SOE and LucasArts have mutually agreed that the end of 2011 is the appropriate time to end the game.
We are extremely grateful to all of the SWG fans. We have had the rare opportunity to host one of the most dedicated and passionate online gaming communities and we truly appreciate the support we’ve received from each and every one of you over the course of the past eight years.
In recognition of your incredible loyalty, we are extending special Fan Appreciation offers to the current SWG community. We also plan to go out with a bang with a galaxy-ending in-game event in December and hope to see you all there. The details relating to these offers and events as well as the timeline and specifics regarding the discontinuation of the service, are provided below.
Again, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our player community for making SWG one of the best online communities in gaming history.
Sincerely,
Sony Online Entertainment & LucasArts

Now I have been playing this game for 8 years now. I have made friends, real friends that i have actually met, and a lot of friends online across the globe. This game has always been about helping and needing the help of others to succeed in your endeavors. there is NO other game out there like it. SWG is a “sandbox” you can do almost anything you want to and it has the most involved crafting and resources system of any game out there. It is truly unique.
So you may ask, why close the game? There are still a lot of players and they are working on new content. Well at first everyone blamed SOE but it really wasn’t their fault. It turns out that LucasArts does not want to let SOE have the Star Wars license because of the new Star Wars the Old Republic game coming out from Bioware.
There is a petition out there that thousands have signed here is a link to it http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/saveswg/
We as players were told at the beginning that both games could coexist and the was great, I had planned on having at least 2 accounts possibly 3 or 4 depending on my kids. I already had 7 active SWG accounts, only 2 active now, and I figured I’d be able to have fun in both games. SWtOR doesn’t have what SWG has and vice-versa.
Since the announcement SOE has made a lot of changes to the game and promised to release the GCW2 update that they have been working on. I can’t wait to see it and im going to be sad when it’s gone. I don’t know if I’ll play the new game or not, we’ll have to wait and see…….
Recent World of Warcraft Scam
Posted on Saturday, October 10th, 2009 and filed under MMORPG Issues, RMT News.Over the past few weeks I have noticed a pattern of scam activities between our customers and delivery in World of Warcraft, I’ve spoken with many of you via MSN, Email, Live Chat, etc pouring through screen shots and delivery logs to try and find out what the real cause of this problem is.
Unlike other companies in the RMT industry we do not shift blame, we do not refuse to take action or fail to investigate the situation. Any and all complaints made to us are handled ASAP and we always respond with an (accurate as possible) response. Here at Mogs we do not have a “Customer is always right” mentality. That died out in the 90′s. We are however all gamers, and we understand more than most where a customer is coming from and we look into every situation like we were looking into a problem with our own accounts.
Any trades that resulted in the customer getting scammed were reset and placed back into queue. We did this at a loss of revenue to us, someone still had to pay for that gold. But the point is, we support you just the same as you support us, and we very much value your continued business with us here at mogs.
IMPORTANT:
Under no circumstances, at any time, should you ever trade back your gold after the initial trade. If someone says they need the gold back so they can screenshot, please come immediately to live support located at the top right hand corner of our website so we can verify that is indeed the fact. Without getting into any detail as to how this scam is done, just remember, never ever ever give the gold back to anyone unless someone in Live Chat or on the Telephone asks you to.
Again, thanks for the support and appreciation, we definately appreciate you.

NCsoft, RMT, Gold Spamming.
Posted on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 and filed under RMT News.NCsoft, the makers of Aion have recently released a statement concerning advertising that makes use of a black hat tactic known as “gold spamming”. Gold spamming is a practice that most any player of any game can instantly recognize and absolutely can’t stand. The repetitive spam messages boasting incredible prices and claims such as, “instant delivery!”, “we’re so fast it’s probably already in your mail!” and “Buy 1000 gold and get 10% free plus a trip to Hawaii!” we’ve all seen it and most people are sick of it.
Real Money Trade (RMT) is a business based on providing services centered on virtual products such as, currency and items. There are many businesses involved in RMT and the industry as a whole has a bad name. Part of that bad name comes from the endless in game spamming that is used as a pathetic attempt to gain customers. The truly sad part is that for as many people as it annoys there must be a lot of people trying services that stoop to this level of advertising, seems more and more companies are turning to this method, but so far the vast majority of the companies that use gold spamming seem to come and go like a bad taco.
Mogs.com supports Real Money Trade; we are all for providing a service that is extremely helpful for a lot of gamers out there. However, we deplore the actions of these 2nd rate hack shops spamming everyone in game non-stop. It’s annoying, it feels desperate, and it just makes everyone in RMT look bad. We support NCsoft’s tough stance on gold spamming. NCsoft further recommends that if you are experiencing issues with chat spam you can simply right click the user’s name and choose to block the character. This of course won’t kill all of the spam, but a little bit at a time will help. NCsoft promises new tools that will also help rid Aion of these pesky spammers. Mogs.com thinks this is a great idea, take it a step further and beyond RMT’s normal controversy and simply don’t buy from companies that are inundating you with spam. Half of them want to rip you off and key log your account. We suggest taking your time and researching RMT companies, and always simply keep mogs.com in mind, we are a small Cleveland, Ohio based company that’s been working in the industry since the late 1990’s and as MOGS since 2004. We do our best to battle spam and keep it out of the game. We are gamers and we built this company with gamers in mind. Cleaning Up the RMT Industry
Posted on Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 and filed under RMT News.
IGE.com, a well known player in the RMT industry, recently sent out an important newsletter to its customers regarding the current state of RMT and some of the solutions to the problems we have all been seeing. Rampant in-game advertising, unethical outsourcing, and other fraudulent and blackhat techniques used to ultimately take advantage of you, the consumer.
Real Money Trading (RMT) is defined as the exchange of real money for ingame items or currency. This is an industry that was originally started by gamers, for gamers. Here at MOGS that is something we really take to heart. MOGS was born out of a passion for gaming, all of our staff are MMORPG gamers themselves so it helps us have a much deeper-rooted understanding of our customers needs.
Unfortunately, today’s market is not, for the most part, driven by gamer-to-gamer relationships. Instead, we find a multi-billion dollar annual market. We find company after company with little to no accountability. This problem is amplified when you bring venture capitalists into the mix. By pouring money into these illegitimate operations, they are just enabling them to spread in hopes that they can gain a customers trust long enough to take their money. Due to their lack of service quality these companies cannot grow organically. They can’t retain customers so they must resort to in-game advertising, click-jacking, and fake web storefronts in order to generate sales.
In this day of Fannie Mae, Enron, and the various other corporate accountability scandals that have hit major media here in the states, we may have become accustomed to this, but that doesn’t mean we should stand for it.
Regulators, Mount up.
In January of 2009, IGE started reaching out to some of the other RMT companies within this industry, explaining their goal of building a group of trusted sites dedicated to implementing some standardization within our industry. By working together and banding with some of the other legitimate RMT providers, we hope to make your gold buying experience as safe and secure as possible.
In order to qualify, the company must have adhered to a set of benchmarks that IGE has defined (Thankfully MOGS was already fully compliant). There’s nothing ground breaking here folks, ultimately it breaks down to Google’s very clever motto, “Don’t Be Evil”.
- Zero Tolerance for Fraud
- Ethical Sourcing Policies
- McAfee and VeriSign verified e-commerce sites
- Scrupulous monitoring of systems to prevent malicious activities. Our sites are guaranteed virus free.
- Absolutely NO in-game, or email spam
- Expert, English speaking and comprehensive customer service
- Clear and documented complaints escalations and refund procedures and policies
- Clear terms of services and privacy policies.
Gold Sellers you can trust (listed alphabetically):
Below is a list of companies that have proven themselves to be trustworthy, operating with a high standard of business ethics and adhering to legitimate industry standards. This is by no means an “end all, be all” list of legitimate gold sellers, only a list of some of the more notable providers.

Why do they copy?
Posted on Saturday, November 15th, 2008 and filed under RMT News.Thsale, Brogame, Power4game, Team4power and many other RMT sites are all under one company with Asian VC backing them. I wonder why with all of the money and so called brains behind the opperation they still cannot create their own original content. I have contacted Thsale multiple times over the past few years to fix this typo LOL!! Check it out and decide if you want to deal with a company that blatently plagurizes another website. Here is (Brogames Affiliate programs terms), do you notice the mention of “Massive Online Gaming Sales”? Hmmm..
This seems to be the norm with many of our oversea competitors, ruining peoples gaming experience with in game spam, making completly false statements on their websites about delivery time or available stock. The good news is that MOGS is taking the steps to help eliminate these companies.. stay tuned and watch as we take the RMT market to the next level leaving all the amateurs behind!
5 Things You Should Know About World of Warcraft Gold…
Posted on Monday, June 30th, 2008 and filed under RMT News.In 2007, hundreds-of-thousands of World of Warcraft players purchased Gold in exchange for real money. The “Real-Money Trading” industry (RMT as it is known) has reacted to this new phenomenon and now hundreds of new RMT companies have been set up.
If you’ve heard the term “RMT” or “Gold Seller” before, it was most likely in a negative context. Many players will tell you of their negative experience with buying Gold, either having Gold deleted from their account (by Blizzard), never having their Gold delivered or, in the worst case, having their account stolen. The increase in rogue companies (due to the industry’s increased success) has lead to the current climate of mistrust between players and the RMT industry.
Like any other marketplace, there are several steps customers can take to protect themselves from illegitimate companies. We have summarized our 5 main rules to follow to ensure you have happy experience when buying Gold:
1. Experts Know What They’re Talking About
You can quickly tell whether or not a company is credible and able to deliver by talking to their Live Support/Chat. Good companies will have their customer service department populated with professional staff who are knowledgeable about MMORPGs; bad companies will have their customer service shipped out to China or India.
If the people you speak to are unwilling to answer general gaming questions (the type you would use to test someone’s knowledge) and become hostile because of it, it’s more than likely because they don’t know what they’re talking about. If they engage you in conversation and know their stuff, you’re good to go!
2. Where Is Your Gold Coming From?
Blizzard attempt to delete all Gold they believe to have been bought from RMT companies. They use a number of different systems and metrics to be able to track Gold and RMT companies must be extremely careful to avoid the Blizzard ban-stick.
The location of the trading character (i.e. the IP address of the account) is the most commonly used factor to ban an account. Put bluntly, if you have Gold traded to you from an account in China, the Gold will likely be deleted within 6 hours. All too often players complain about having Gold deleted from their mailbox or directly from their character soon after it is traded to them.
We strongly advise you find a North American, European and Australasian company to deal with, as this will severely cut your chances of losing Gold post-trade. You can usually tell where a company delivers from by talking to their Live Support; if they sound Chinese, they probably are.
3. The Truth About Delivery Times
The biggest black spot on the RMT industry is the term “Instant Delivery”. As players demand that Gold be delivered quicker and quicker, many leading RMT companies have started advertising “Instant Delivery” of Gold on all servers. This usually means delivery within 30 minutes (stated in the small print) but reports from customers would suggest otherwise.
When buying Gold you should expect to wait anywhere from 1 to 12 hours, and in some cases up to 48 hours. This is due to the stockpiling issue within World of Warcraft – if a company stores too much Gold on a single account, Blizzard will ban it. Therefore, stock levels need to be kept relatively low to avoid massive losses when accounts are banned. Companies such as WoWMine built a large following of new customers in 2007 due to their instant delivery claims, but their inability to deliver on this promise has left their reputation in pieces and with very few loyal customers.
We suggest that you ask the company directly how long Gold will take to deliver. If they give you an estimate between 1 and 12 hours, they are likely a reputable company. If they claim to deliver in less than 5 minutes, move on to the next company.
4. The 3Cs – Customers Confirm Credibility
A method often taught in Sales School is to include customer testimonials in order to display the credibility of a company. The problem customers often face is whether or not this endorsement is truthful. Thankfully most major RMT companies participate with BizRate; an independent ranking system that allows users to rate and review companies. Before you buy Gold from any company we suggest visiting www.BizRate.com and search for the company profile (you can see our profile here). This will give you a good indication of the company’s legitimacy and ability to deliver on their promises.
5. What Can You Do If All Goes Wrong?
Sometimes you follow all the rules, do everything right but still things go wrong. In this case you need to be able to get your money back or make the company deliver as promised. Unfortunately the laws of your country are not universal, so if you buy from a company on the other side of the World, you will find it extremely difficult to demand a refund or threaten them with legal action.
If you follow these guidelines you are much more likely to have a positive buying experience and be able to enjoy spending your piles of Gold. Never leave it up to the chance that everything will go alright – you should always take steps to protect yourself from all situations.
What About MOGS?
The reason we have taken the time to produce this article is two-fold. Firstly, we want all gamers to be fully educated about RMT purchases. There are too many people put off purchasing MMORPG services because of rogue companies who don’t comply to these standards. Secondly, we want to show the World the standards that we live by. We have carved a niche as the only major American RMT company (with ALL our major competitors based in China) by following these guidelines and continuing to delight our customers – check out our BizRate ranking here to see for yourself.
